John Seed is one of the pioneers of the Australian Deep Ecology movement.
He co-founded the Rainforest Information Centre (RIC), an organisation dedicated to rainforest conservation and protection. Through RIC, he has been actively involved in campaigns against deforestation and the destruction of tropical rainforests, particularly in Australia and Southeast Asia.
Seed co-created the Council of All Beings ritual in collaboration with Joanna Macy, an environmental activist and scholar. This experiential practice involves participants taking on the roles of various species and ecosystems to deepen their empathy and understanding of the interconnectedness of all life forms. It has been used as a powerful tool for ecological education and consciousness-raising.
His work continues to inspire many individuals to reevaluate their relationship with nature and work towards a more sustainable and harmonious world.
